Our History

A family story that began in 1879.

André Thorin

The founder

It all began in 1879 when Pierre Thorin started the Thorin family vineyard. Unfortunately, phylloxera arrived in Charente shortly afterwards and decimated a large part of the vineyards.

Fascinated by his grandfather's work, André Thorin set about rebuilding the family vineyard. André Thorin planted his first vines in 1950. In the early days, the estate included a few parcels of vines in the commune of Mainxe, located in Cognac's most prestigious cru, Grande Champagne.

Little by little, the estate expanded. André Thorin installed the estate's first still.

Year after year, he carefully guarded a portion of his cognacs to pass on to future generations. Today, it forms the basis for the production of our cognacs.

Claude Thorin

The passionate

Since the 1990s, Claude Thorin has continued the work begun by his father. To further develop the estate, he created his own range of cognacs and decided to join the independent winegrowers' association.

Constantly striving for perfection, he creates exceptional cognacs for you. By taking over an old prestigious estate, Claude Thorin continues his quest for perfection.

The property is located in the commune of Segonzac, at a place called Biard.
For more than a century, it has been home to generations of cellar masters and aged many barrels.

Today, it is the headquarters of our estate, housing our eaux de vie, which slowly age in its century-old cellars.
